Maro Douka was born in 1947 in Chania. Since 1966 she lives in Athens. She has finished the Department of History and Archaeology of Philosophical School, University of Athens. She has been honored with the Award "Nikos Kazantzakis" of the Municipality of Heraklion for the novel "The ancient rust", with the B' State Award for the novel "The Floating City" and the Kostas Houranis Prose Award from the Academy of Athens for the novel "Innocents and Culprits". For the same novel was also honored with the Award Balkanika. Short stories and novels have been translated into many European languages. |
