VASILIS GISDAKIS
Singer


He was the last singer who worked with composer Manos Hatzidakis. He studied classical guitar and Music Theory, took vocal lessons with Giorgos Samartzis and was a member of Spiros Sakas's Vocal Art and Research Studio.

In 1989, he meets Manos Hatzidakis and the latter first presents him to the public in December of that year in a concert by "Sirios" music company in Palas Theatre.

From 1989 to 1993, he took part in all of the composer's concerts, singing under his conduction, while he also took part in every concert produced by "Sirios".

Until today, V. Gisdakis has worked with the Orchestra of Colours in concerts around Greece and abroad, performing in music events like the Special Performance for the Beatles, "Balads", "Songs of the Aegean" etc. He has also worked with the Manos Hatzidakis Ensemble, the Symphony Orchestra of Volos, and with distinguished singers like Maria Farandouri, Nena Venetsanou, Ilias Lougos, G. Andreatos, E. Paspala, Savina Gianatou et al. He' also worked with Spiros Sakas and Natassa Zouka in Ta Paramythia tou Kosmou (Fairytales of the World), a dance theatre performance, with "Omadiki Apodrassi" music band, as singer and co-composer, with Notis Mavroudis, the State Orchestra of Thessaloniki, Dimitra Galani et al. His collaboration with Tatiana Ligari and the "Treno sto Rouf" (Train at Rouf) Railway Theatre was on a music-poetic performance called Thelete Dendr' Anthissete, thelete Marathite (Trees, bloom or not it's no matter to me), which was staged in the Orient Express Music Wagon of the Railway Theatre.

His music releases include: O Dromeas (The Runner, 1991, Sirios Productions) -music composed by Nikos Danikas and lyrics by Lefteris Tiligadas, Pros tin Athanassia ti Martiriki (Towards Tortured Freedom, 1996, Sirios Productions) -music composed by "Hanome Giati Remvazo" group and lyrics by Agathi Dimitrouka-, Cartoon (2001, Eros) -music and lyrics by "Omadiki Apodrassi" band- et al. He's also taken part in Tatiana Zografou's CD Petondas Pas stin Poli (Fly to Find the City). Soon, he will release twelve contemporary Greek songs.
