Michael Ganas was born in Epirus in 1944. Since 1962 he lives and works in Athens. Being a bookseller for fifteen years, he later worked with the state television as a literary editor and as a writer. From 1989 until 2005 he worked as a copywriter at an advertising agency. His poems have been translated into several languages, while the lyrics have been set to music by famous Greek composers. In 1994 he was awarded with the State Prize for Poetry for his book "Absurd", and in 2009 he was awarded the Cavafy Prize, in Cairo of Egypt.
