He was born in Livadia and graduated from Veakis Drama School in 1980. He took part in the following performances: Shakespeare’s Timon of Athens and Aristophanes’s Thesmoforiazusae with Laiko Piramatiko Theatro (Popular Experimental Theatre) under the direction of L. Trivizas, Moliere’s Doctor In Spite of Himself, directed by Ε. Vassilikioti, Aristophanes’s Birds directed by Ch. Kandreviotou, Aristophanes’s Knights and two children’s plays directed by Ch. Tsangas; also in two more children’s plays with Thiasos 81 (Troupe 81), directed by N. Nikolaou, a children’s play on the children’s theatre stage of “Theatro tou Iliou” theatre (Theatre of the Sun) and Aristophanes’s Wealth, directed by Κ. Farmassoni, M. Efthimiadis’s Fonias (Murderer) directed by T. Marketaki, Lorca’s The Billy-Club Puppets, directed by G. Karachissaridis, N. Kazantzakis’s Zorba directed by G. Remoundos, D. Kehaidis’s Dafnes kai Pikrodafnes (Laurels and Oleanders) directed by G. Mortzos, D. Psathas’s Ksipna Vassili (Wake up, Vassilis) directed by Sp. Papadopoulos, D. Vyzantios’s Vavilonia (The Din of Babel) directed by T. Chrysikakos, Shakespeare’s Midsummer Night’s Dream, directed by K. Kapodistrias.
He has also worked with Anichto Theatro (Open Theatre) in the following performances: Viva Aspassia and Teleftea Praxi (Last Act), two comedies by I. Kambanellis, I Kiria me to Skilaki (The Lady with the Dog) by Ant. Chechov, adapted by G. Michailidis, R. Vitrac’s Victor I ta Paidia stin Eksousia (Victor or Power to the Children), Andersen’s To Aidoni tou Aftokratora (The Emperor’s Nightingale), and G. Soldatos’s Otan o Skaribas kirikse ton polemo kata tis Chalkidas (When Skaribas Declared War Against Chalkida), directed by G. Michailidis.
In the summer of 2001 he played in Sophocles’s Antigone, directed by G. Kimoulis. He also played with Athinaiki Laiki Skini (People’s Stage of Athens) in Socratis Shock! Kai Megalio (Socrates Shock! And Grandeur), directed by G. Mortzos.
He has worked with the group Agamoi Thitai taking part in theatrical sketches directed by Ieroklis Michailidis.
Also, with a theatre group under the auspices of Panteio Panepistimio in Vizyenos’s Moskov Selim, directed by Kimon Rigopoulos, and with Theatriki Skini (Theatrical Stage) in Rick Abbott’s Play On!, directed by Ant. Antoniou. He has participated in Malista Kirie Zambeta (Yes, Mr Zambetas), a musical based on the life of G. Zambetas, written and directed by Theofilos Verykios.

Chrysanthos Kayas has also played in N. Vergitsis’s film Kerithres (Honeycombs), in P. Tassios’s telemovie Soulis, o Kombarsos (Soulis, the Supporting Actor), as well as in Koutsomytis’s TV serial Roccos Hoidas, Ier. Michailidis’s Kai Pali Filoi (Friends Again), R. Eskenazi’s I zoi mas mia volta (Life Like a Walk), H. Romas’s Lifting and in children’s TV and radio shows.
