| Artist ArchiveNIKOS KOTARAS Musician - Guitar Born in Athens. He began his music studies at the Εθνικό και Ελληνικό Ωδείο (Hellenic Conservatory), playing classical guitar. At the same time he dealt with music theory close to the late Amarantos Amarantidis.
In 1987 he got a scholarship for Berklee College of Music, in Boston, USA. In 1992 he studied at the Musicians Institute of Technology in the USA. He has attended classes of musical psychology and musical therapy at the University of Berkeley- California. He also has the specialty of "all styles studio musician".
He has studied close to known Big Band orchestrators, D. Grove and M. Rozzi. Meanwhile he continued his theoretical studies, reaching a high standard (big band arranging etc.). He gave special emphasis on twentieth century music (twelve- tone, jazz etc.) and also attended compulsory courses of piano and viola. In 2001 he taught as an assistant professor at the Queens- New York College, while being in close collaboration with the State University of New York.
He has worked with various conservatories and music schools, dealt with discography and has written music for theatre shows and television and radio programms.
For the past years he has mostly been teaching music of all levels to young people. |
