LEA KOUSI
Stage Designer


Born in Thessaloniki. Studied scenography and costume design at London's Wimbledon School of Art. Works mainly in theater and cinema. She has taught scenography at Ch. Tsagas' and "Σχολείο της Νυκτός" ("School of the Night") drama schools, as well as at seminars for the European Union.

She has presented her work at the Πανελλήνια Έκθεση Σκηνογραφίας (Panhellenic Scenography Exhibition) in the "Άποψη" ("Apopsi"- "Viewpoint") gallery (1986), at the Έκθεση Σκηνογραφίας Παιδικού Θεάτρου (Children's Theatre Scenography Exhibition) at the Πολιτιστικό Κέντρο Μ. Μερκούρη (M. Merkouri Cultural Centre) (1996) and the Συνέδριο για το Νεοελληνικό Θέατρο (Convention for Contemporary Greek Theater) at the Στοά του Βιβλίου (Book Gallery) (1998). As a total she has developed the scenography for about 100 productions in cooperation with national theaters, ΔΗΠΕΘΕ (Municipal Regional Theater), private troupes and teams of modern dance, covering works of ancient greek drama (Plutus 1989, Peace 1992, The Phoenician Women 1993, Orestes 1996, The Bacchae 1999), modern greek, foreign, classic and contemporary repertory (G. Skourtis' Νταντάδες (Nannies) with the Thessalian Theater, E. Albee's Everything in the Garden with the ΚΘΒΕ (National Theater of Northern Greece), K. Mourselas' Ενυδρείο (Aquarium) with the ΚΘΒΕ, Ruzante's La Moscheta with Σύγχρονος Λόγος, Casares' The Invention of Morel with Σημείο Theater, Claudel's The Break of Noon with Σημείο Theater, Marivaux's The Game of Love and Chance with Σύγχρονος Λόγος, Ostrovsky's The Diary of a Scoundrel with Έρευνα Τheater, M. Pontikas' "Κοίτα τους" with Στοά Τheater, H. She has collaborated with M. Iliou in the latter's films "Παράθυρο στη θάλασσα" (1992), "Τρεις εποχές" (1995), and "Συνάντηση", for which she was honored with the special Award for Scenography (1998), as well as in I. Fragakis' film "Καυτή γραμμή", for which she was awarded with the Fantastic Cinema (V.Kotronis) award, in 1998. She has been honored with the first People's Choice Award for Scenography in 2002 by Athinorama magazine for the show "Ακούω Ήχον Κώδωνος" by Μποστ (Bost- Chrysanthos Mentis Bostantzoglou) with Στοά Theater.
