He was born in Athens in 1972.
He studied under scholarship at the Athens Conservatory in Maria Rota’s class.
In 1996, he received his piano diploma graded “Excellent and First Prize Unanimously”.
He attended piano seminars with world-renowned pianists Constantin and Julia Ganev and Lev Vlassenko (Professor and Chair of Piano at the Moscow P. I. Tchaikofsky Conservatory).
He has contributed to concerts with chamber music works by Greek and foreign composers (Katrakio Theatre, National Gallery, Veakio Theatre with soprano Sonia Theodoridou, et al.)
He has recorded for and appeared on state television. He has contributed to a concert organized by ERT (Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation), conducted by Antonis Kontogeorgiou and he has also worked with the ERT Music Ensembles.
As piano accompanist, he has worked at the Greek National Conservatoire and at the Athens Conservatoire in soprano Misa Ikeutsi’s solo singing class, emphasizing on the genre of the lied and the oratorium. Together with Misa Ikeutsi, he has given a German Lieder concert.
As music performer, Andreas Stamatopoulos has participated in the following theatre productions: Bost’s Fafsta, B. Brecht’s The Threepenny Opera, Xenia Kalogeropoulou’s Odisevah (Odyssinbad) and F. Filipou’s Rabbit Eye Movement, which was put on at the Experimental Stage of the Greek National Theatre. For the latter two, he also wrote the music and was music director.
He has been collaborating with the Lyceum Club of Greek Women (“Likio Ellinidon”) since 1994, with the Athens Conservatoire Drama Club since 2001 and, lastly, since 2005 he works as a piano teacher at Sevi Steliatou’s Music School on Karistos Island.
