ANNA THEODORATOU
Musician - Flute


Born in Piraeus, she started her music studies at the age of 14. She studied piano at the Hellenic Conservatory with professors Kostis Gaitanos and Vassiliki Barzouka and Advanced Music Theory with Amarandos Amarandidis. She received her diploma in 1994 graded "Excellent and First Prize Unanimously". While studying piano, in 1991 she started learning the flute at the Athens Conservatoire in Urs Ruttimann's class. She tooke her flute diploma in 1998 once again graded "Excellent and First Prize Unanimously".

She has performed as flutist in chamber music concerts with various ensembles in and outside Athens (French Institute, Goethe Institute, Simi Island Festival et al.).

In 2000 she created "Trio Als", a chamber music ensemble giving concerts in and outside Athens and performing works of Baroque, the Classical Romantic period and the 20th century. In January 2001, she took part in the launching of Orfeas Peridis's album with children's songs at the Megaron, the Athens Concert Hall.

In the summer of 2001 she collaborated with the Municipal Theatres of Agrinio and Veria in the staging of Pirasmos (Temptation), (directed by Th. Gonis and music composed by O. Peridis). The theatrical season of 2002-2003 is the first time she works with Tatiana Ligari in the musical theatre performance Thelete Dendr' Anthissete, thelete Marathite (Trees, bloom or not it's no matter to me)

In the summer of the same year she works with Alkistis Raftopoulou and the theatre group of the Municipality of Argiroupoli on Eugenios Trivizas's Mia Fora ki Enan Kero Itan Ena Skiachtro (Once Upon a Time There Was a Scarecrow). She has performed in O. Peridis's (2003) and K. Koulia's concerts and is currently working with V. Gisdakis.

She has performed as singer in two collections of children's songs by Ilias Liougos. In 2004 they work together on M. Theodorakis's Mauthausen, adapting it for a singer, a piano and a flute, with Tassos Karakatsanis and Vassilis Gisdakis in a two-day concert dedicated to the great Greek composer. In the same year, she takes part as singer and musician in the launching of To Marouli tis Kalossinis (The Lettuce of Kindness), a children's book by Agathi Dimitrouka. In 2005 she also takes part in Antonis Boskoitis's music documentary film Zondani sto Kitaro -Skines Rock (Alive at Kitaro -Rock Scenes), a production of ERT (Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation) and the Greek Film Centre. Her recordings include: Ta logia Ine Dromi (Words are Roads), an album by "Kitrina Podilata" music group (MBI, 2003), Thelete Dendr' Anthissete, thelete Marathite, "To Treno sto Rouf" (Train at Rouf), (ΕROS 2003), 7 Beaufort (Avlos, 2005), et al.
She currently works as state substitute teacher at Music Schools in Attica and continues her Advanced Music Theory studies with professor Luisa Andipa in the Meandrio Music School.
