The musical “The Underpants of Saint Gryphon” gets extra shows, up to the 21st of April. One of the participations of the 5th Young Artists Festival “The 12 coupes”, it has been favoured by the audience and stood out for its humour. During the last four months, it has been presented successfully every Thursday in the Orient Express Music Wagon, by the young and talented actor and musician group “Prosanamma”.
The satiric poem by Ioannis Kolonas from Zanthe, written in 1897, decries –using a lot of humour and sarcasm- the deception and exploitation of devoted believers by ruthless priests. The forgotten underpants of an adulterer priest are made into a holy relic. The actors turn into narrators and vice-versa, while the musicians creatively combine the byzantine and the urban music traditions.
