The Jazz Express - SPEAKEASY NIGHTS

After four years of sold out performances, "The Jazz Express" band return, at the Orient Express Music Wagon of To Treno Sto Rouf and transforms it into a "Speakeasy" place. Every Saturday night they transport as to the 30’s, 40’s and 50’s with a tribute to two legendary figures of jazz, Louis Armstrong and Billie Holiday.

A connecting link between these two artists, apart from the poor neighbourhoods where they were born and made their first steps, is their turbulent life. An abusive life, surrounded by mobsters, pimps, prostitutes and drag dealers.

Louis Armstrong was born in New Orleans and Billie Holiday in Philadelphia. Their pure talent was cultivated and developed next to houses of tolerance, illegal bars, and Speakeasy of the prohibition and racial discrimination.

Despite the difficulties, they managed not only to survive but to reach the top of world music. "Lady Day" with the unique metal of her voice, her special way of interpretation, the special articulation and the slow-growing rhythm became a model of the jazz performer and "Satchmo" was established as the king of jazz.

From November 3rd and every Saturday, "The Jazz Express" honours these two legendary artists in a unique tribute specially prepared for the passengers of the Orient Express Music Coach.

The Jazz Express are: Markos Papasifakis guitar, voice / Manos Athanasiadis piano, voice / Teris Vakirtzoglou voice / Kostas Konstantinos contrabass
