On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Asia Minor Catastrophe and in the framework of the program " Culture is Athens", the Railway Carriage Theater To Treno sto Rouf co-organizes with the Organization for Culture, Sports and Youth of the Municipality of Athens (OPANDA) and presents in collaboration with the School of Fine Arts (1stSculpture Laboratory and 13thPainting Workshop) the multi-active visual art exhibition Dis-placed.
The multi-active exhibition Dis-placed composes a visual, choreographic and musical collaboration of artists from the fields of Visual, Contemporary Dance and Music.
Inspired by the railway character of To Treno sto Rouf, seventeen visual artists expand the dialogue, which the multidimensional action «ΕΚ-Πατρίδες» opens. They approach concepts, which concern modern societies, such as immigration, movement, refuge, roots, journey, flight, return, solidarity, freedom, etc. They connect the uprooting and the wave of Greek refugees from Asia Minor with the corresponding grand scheme of things in a dramatic similarity in terms of human suffering, the impasses but also the urgent need for modern societies to seek solutions based on Man and the hope for "renaissance".
During the first four days of the exhibition (July 7, 8, 9 and 10) and in parallel with the works on display in the outdoor area of the Apovathra, visitors will have the opportunity to watch choreographic and musical "conversations" with works on display inside the historic wagons of the Train-Theater, thus creating a three-dimensional dialogue. The theme of the exhibition and the Train itself become the occasion for three dancers and a musician to come together in a live meeting with the works of art.
