From Cabaret to Rock ’n’ Roll … and All That Jazz!
A journey aboard the Orient Express to the retro era with Glitter Grotesque
Following last year’s sold-out performances Christmas Jazz and The Golden Age of Hollywood, Glitter Grotesque returns to the Music Wagon Orient Express with an all-new thematic show.
The new production From Cabaret to Rock ’n’ Roll … and All That Jazz takes us back to the retro era, traversing beloved musical styles from 1890 to 1960: ragtime, swing, jazz, blues, country, and rock ’n’ roll — a colorful mosaic of sounds and rhythms from shadowy cabarets, illicit speakeasies, eclectic vaudeville, and dazzling musicals.
Iconic songs from legendary artists (Marlene Dietrich, Big Mama Thornton, Johnny Cash, Ella Fitzgerald, Ray Charles, The Andrews Sisters, Julie London, Tony Bennett, and many more) and familiar melodies spanning the retro spectrum come alive in the city’s most ideal venue, the Music Wagon Orient Express.
Featuring Ioanna Noir Zacharopoulou on vocals, Giorgos Lagogiannis on vocals and piano, and Voodoo Drummer (from Tiger Lillies) on drums.
