The new themed musical performance by Glitter Grotesque

Following their sold-out appearances in previous seasons, Glitter Grotesque present their brand-new themed show, “Let’s SWING in NEW ORLEANS”: a musical journey from the mysterious birthplace of jazz to the dazzling era of swing.

Through an explosive blend of Dixieland, gospel, rhythm and blues, Charleston, jive and swing, the much-loved band travels from the shadowy streets of Storyville to the glittering ballrooms of America, in a vibrant journey filled with rhythm, theatricality and the spirit of a bygone era.

From the ritual rhythms of voodoo and New Orleans jazz funerals, with their Second Line brass-band parades, to the triumphant rise of the big bands, ballrooms and Lindy Hop of the 1930s and 1940s, Glitter Grotesque unfold the fascinating story of the music that changed the world, every Sunday at the Orient Express Music Wagon.

Featuring Ioanna Noir Zacharopoulou on vocals, Giorgos Mikros on piano and Christos “Voodoo” Koutsogiannis on drums. Alongside his collaboration with The Tiger Lillies, Koutsogiannis has also performed in New Orleans with the award-winning Meschiya Lake and members of Tuba Skinny and the Smoking Time Jazz Club.

Glitter Grotesque dedicate this season’s performance to the memory of their beloved friend and collaborator, Giorgos Lagogiannis.
