After 250 performances in 12 different stages and 1300 young artists, the unique Railway Cultural Festival dedicated to contemporary youth expression and creation takes place for the 12th year at the Railway Carriage Theatre to Treno sto Roof.

 

From Sunday, May 19 until Sunday, June 2, 2024, dozens of new groups and individual artists from all forms of Art (Theatre, Music, Dance, Visual Arts) create original innovative projects of short duration (10-30 minutes) and present them daily for a continuous fortnight in all areas of the artistic Train. Entry for the public is free.

 

The multifaceted Festival, which began its course in 2011 with the aim of providing a platform for young artists, is now an Athens institution and has also given birth to the contemporary dance sub-festival Compartments Dance Project, which takes place every autumn.

 

Tatiana Lygari, Artistic Director of the Festival, notes:
"In this year's event, the artists are positioned against current issues related to the search but also the complexity of individual identity and self-determination, the position of women for the claim of equality and justice, the exploration of the concepts of choice, fear, freedom and of collective power, the approach of the "other", the journey of moving away from the mother figure towards self-development and independence, the metaphysical journey from life to infinity, but also the meaning of play and the place it should have in adulthood human life".

 

FREE ENTRANCE

A necessary condition is the supply of entry tickets. Start of distribution of tickets for each day's performances from 18.30 at the Train box office. Maximum number of tickets 3 per person/per day based on seat availability.

 

 

PERFORMANCES

All performances are presented on a daily basis from 19.00 to 23.30 in a rolling program, for a continuous 15 days (19/5-2/6/2024).
