Musical performancefrom 22 January 2015
Maybe it’s because trains and platforms always mysteriously attract us and urge us to escape to the unknown, having the feeling of absolute freedom…
Maybe it’s because, during the endless hours of listening to the monotonous spinning of the wheels on the rails, during a night trip, your mind flies away…
Maybe it’s because a train has been for some the means to escape slavery…
Maybe, for all those reasons, when you listen to the blues, you have the feeling their music and verses contain a distant, lonesome whistling deep inside them…
That’s why every Thursday at 21:30, at the Tent of the Train at Rouf, the “Cosmic Filters” will be performing a program comprised of their own compositions, as well as of pieces featuring a different ‘blues legend’ every week.
Cosmic Filters were founded in Piraeus in 2013, on Valentine’s Day. That’s why, since then, they have been filtering all those unique moments, the simple, authentic things and surprises of life, sharing them with their audience, through their love for music.
Their original tunes have strains of the ‘R&B’ and ‘Stax’ sound, the psychedelia of the late 60’s and the blues revival, while retaining their personal, fresh and up-to-date attitude.
Strong songwriting, coupled with the collective arrangements, set the Cosmic Filters apart, while the two horns add the special twist.
Their live shows are electrifying and tight, rich with musical interplay and melodic exchange.
Come enjoy the musical essence of their cosmic energy.

Meet the Cosmic Filters:
Markos Papasifakis is the founder, writer, arranger, singer and guitar player for the Cosmic Filters. His rich musical journey has given him a wealth of experience, which becomes evident in the way he writes, arranges and plays.
Nikos Vardis is a world class bass player with a distinct, personal sound, immediately recognizable -a rare quality. He can lay down a groove, which will get you out of your seat. He has enormous playing and recording experience, having recorded more than 5.000 songs, covering all genres.
Vasilis Saltikis plays tenor sax and various percussion instruments. His musical quest has taken him from the traditional, polyrythmic Greek sounds to indian Ragas and jazz. His explosive solos are full of passion, freedom and ecstasy.
Dimitris Karaganis is the newest member of the band and plays alto sax and flute. The combination of Vasilis on tenor sax and Dimitris on flute is reminiscent of the classic Stax horn section, which often used two or three saxes instead of brass.
Apostolos Patronidis, an old associate of Markos, is the youngest member of the Cosmic Filters, full of energy, groove and positive vibes that form the foundation on which their music is built. He studied at the Chopin Conservatory in Poland and has played with various groups of varying genres, until becoming one of the family.
