Five musicians with different backgrounds (classical, jazz, blues, folk, tradional) meet for an original project with worksongs from all over the workd and create the band "the worksongs project" and its personal sound.
“Worksongs” are the songs people used to sing during their work or the songs refering to different works. The first are divided in the ones that gave the rhythm to coordinate group jobs (e.g. rowing) and those that accompanied and encouraged them, raising their productivity.
The musical program and the visual material are the result of years historical, foklore and musicological study. Its aspiration is to present the similarities in the activity and the way of thought of working people all over the world.
The musical journey starts from Greece, continues in the mountains of the Balkans, crosses the silk road from China to the Middle East, passes from the Subsaharian and South Africa, reaches to the New World with the Andes tradidtions and even norther in the cultural mosaic of the USA and returns to Europe with celtic sounds from Great Britain and French Britain.
